I was very blessed to have been able to watch Mon David’s show last night at the Teatrino at the Promenade in Greenhills. He is truly a fantastic performer! I don’t know a lot of people who can make random syllables sound good! I hope he wins the competition in London.
I particularly loved the song number he performed with Bituin Escalante. They sang Neil Sedaka’s “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do” in a slow, jazzy version which was really great! I loved the way they blended and Bituin Escalante’s voice was truly lovely to listen to. Wish I had as well developed a voice.
The show was made possible by the generosity of Bituin Escalante (who was supposed to be the one having a show that night but gave way to Mon in support of his London trip) and Thirdline, Inc. The show was a despedida for Mon and what a turnout there was. The place was full of musicians and artists who came in support of one of our own, as well as some fans of Mon. In the audience were Buboy Garovillo, Mel Villena, Dulce, Aya Laurel and Aiza Suegerra just to name a few of the who’s who in the crowd. All of them dressed very simply and just enjoying the music - wonderful!
If you’ve never been to the Teatrino, it’s a great place for watching a show. It’s cozy and the acoustics are wonderful. Just be prepared for the cost. The food is expensive and not really worth its price. At least you can have dinner at one of the other restaurants before going to the Teatrino, so you can just have drinks when you get there.
Ranting over (previous article), here’s the other part of the Enchanted Kingdom experience.
We arrived at the park a little after 12nn. Since we didn’t want to lug big bags around, we went and got lockers which only cost P50 and an ID. Wow!, the girl managed to squeeze in 3 big backpacks and a video cam bag into this locker that looked like it could only hold2 bags. Amazing!
rw show going called “Escape from Bane Manor”. The story was lame but the effects were cool. My kid screamed on cue at the grabbing arms and after that nothing would persuade him to look again.
We got on the Roller Skater which was fun with its twists and dips without making one feel that your stomach got left behind. Then we did the Bumper Cars! The best!!! Then there was paint ball with the group split into two, one group aiming to get the Capt and the other to get Dr Ribbit. Then a quick trip to the Rialto. This is where it became worth it for me. As we exited the theater, my daughter looked up at me and said, “mommy, this is the bestest day ever!” Grammatically incorrect it may be, but I don’t care! My baby is happy!
While we stopped for dinner, the fireworks show took place…it was simple and beautiful. My son was awed! I truly enjoyed that show. After which the group played the water shooting game so that we could get Dr Ribbit the penguin stuffed toy
Then off we went to ride the Rio Grande where we all ended up SOAKED! talk about my wet fanny! I had water squishing out of my shoes (my left boot was half full of water) my shirt was driiping too. Great idea of enchanted to put their store as the exit becuase people need to buy stuff to be dry again after. I ended up with slippers. Thankfully I had extra shirts. The pants well…..it dried eventually and I changed as soon as I got home.
Unfortunately, due to the long lines we had no more time to ride (it was already after 10pm). It was fun. I hope we can go again and hopefully the park wll be even better.
PS.
It wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t talk about food. The Mexican burger I had was GREAT!!!!!! We got it from the Galactic Treats
It was made from fresh ingredients and really made the price worth it. It beats all the fast food joints easy though they have the same price
I’m looking forward to going again. Hopefully next time I go the lines won’t be so bad.
I’ve always enjoyed carnivals. I was so happy when Enchanted Kingdom opened. It was like having a mini Disneyland in our own country. The park was well created and clean. There were lots of fun stuff to do for every visitor, no matter what your age.
So recently, my friends and I decided to go to Enchanted together. When we arrived, it looked bad already. There was a school having a field trip (BNHS was stitched onto their ties). These children were rowdy and running everywhere. It felt like there was an infestation of insects buzzing right outside the gates.
When we got inside, my fears were proven right…there were so many people the lines were loooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggg!!!!! We actually spent an hour and a half in line at one of the rides. But if you’re going to say well you could have gone somewhere else, believe me that the lines were long on all the rides except the kiddie ones and the paint ball and Go Kart (because you had to pay extra for these activities).
Annoyance: these darned kids from this school (not all of the were high school) were very ill disciplned. They would try to cut the lines and they would stand and sit on the railings (I guess they were never taught to read because there were signs all over the place saying to not do that. Oh and lets not forget that they would open the barriers so that more of their friends utilize the “short cut” in the lines. Where were the teachers who are supposed to ensure the good behavior of their students while out of their school? They were having a great time on the rides and letting the kids run around on their own (not that I blame them for wanting to enjoy the day).
I guess by 6pm everyone had had enough of them, even some of their own classmates, because when they tried to cut across our line at the Rialto, the people booed them and yelled for them to line up. The second group was worse! They tried to cut at the front! Thankfully their classmates pushed them out. For a moment, they almost had a fist fight. Thankfully the companions of the group at the Rialto were very level headed and just kept their friends in line.
We were so happy when these students finally went home at around 7 and the park was clear of these annoying undisciplined kids.
To the management of Enchanted: it was obvious that compared to when the park first opened, they have less staff but it would be nice if they still had people monitoring the lines. They were horribly long . Obviously there weren’t enough rides. I can’t say that enchanted gives value for your money because with the extremely long lines, you only get to ride once on each ride (What a waste of the unlimited pass). Please have more rides! Oh! and please work on your arcades (they’ve begun to look cheap and seedy). They don’t match EK’s image anymore.
I hope the next time I get to go to Enchanted it has improved. I still had fun, but I wish it had been worth it (monetary wise).
