There were many great songs and bands to come out of the 70’s. On the local scene, OPM (Original Pinoy Music) was at its best at this time. One of the bands whose music is now legend is the Hotdogs. They helped create what was known as Manilasound. Their hits include Manila, Beh Buti Nga, Miss Universe, Panaginip and more. Click here to read the rest of this article.

Popcorn!!!!

October 29, 2006

Popcorn is  something that I associate with happy times. It's a group food, something to eat while watching a movie. I buy both the microwaveable popcorn but I also get the type that you cook the old fashioned way. Until recently, I didn't buy it ready made.

Though I grew up with Poppy cock and Jack n'Jills Nuts and Pops, I've never been moved to buy these ready made packs. Usually the popcorn in these packs are sticky and sweet. I prefer my popcorn buttery and salty. When I do get a craving for the caramelized kind, I go get some from Goldilocks.

After last night's popcorn feast though I may be switching brands. Chef Tony had sent over tubs of various flavor for us to taste. We were treated to 7 flavors- the original caramel popcorn, Light, Cinnamon Butter, Parmesan, Pesto, Roasted Almond Mocha Chino, White Chocolate Walnut. All of them were really good! One of the best things about these tubs - the delicious smell that wafts up as you open each container. Plus, no sticky fingers!

My top pick would have to be the Parmesan. I like the way the cheese flavor is just subtly there without getting your fingers orange from cheese powder. It doesn't stink but you definitely know it is cheese. My youngest definitely agrees. He came back for thirds of this one.

My second favorite would have to be the Mochachino. I love the interplay of coffee, chocolate and almonds (I'm guessing at the ingredients here). This one is definitely different from your run of the mill popcorn.

My older kids love the light. Speaking as someone who needs to watch my weight, it is always nice to have a healthier option among the flavors without feeling deprived. My daughter loves the buttery taste of this tub.

I recommend everyone head on over to Chef Tony's outlets and try it for yourself. They are delicious and are great for snacks to share or to give as gifts. They can be found at  Tomas Morato (Quezon City across the street from McDonald's), Metrowalk (Ortigas Center near Pancake House), and Mega Mall Building A (near National Bookstore. For inquiries you may call them at 0917-500-CORN.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Here’s another animated series that I absolutely enjoy. I’m glad to see better cartoons coming from Nickelodeon.

A very interesting world. Element manipulators grouped into nations. A child to save them all who can manipulat all 4.
